Balsam (Peru)

Balsam of Peru provides a sweet, vanilla-like fragrance with hints of cinnamon and clove. Its rich, resinous scent is warm, comforting, and long-lasting, making it a popular base note in oriental and woody fragrances. Balsam of Peru blends well with other sweet, spicy, and woody notes, adding complexity and a grounding effect to perfumes.

History & Production: Native to Central and South America, Balsam of Peru is harvested from the Myroxylon tree by tapping its bark. The resin is then processed to produce essential oil or resinoid. Used historically for medicinal purposes, it has also been a staple in perfumery since the 17th century for its sweet, balsamic aroma that complements a wide range of scents.
