Galbanum

Galbanum is a unique fragrance note known for its fresh, green, and slightly bitter aroma with resinous and earthy undertones. Its scent profile is sharp, vibrant, and herbaceous, evoking the essence of crushed leaves and freshly cut grass. Galbanum adds a distinctive, bold quality to perfumes and is often used as a top or heart note to bring an intense, green freshness to compositions. It pairs well with citrus, florals, and woody notes, contributing to balanced and complex fragrances with an uplifting and natural character.

History & Production: Galbanum resin is obtained from the Ferula plant, which grows in regions such as Iran and Afghanistan. The resin is collected by making incisions in the plant’s stem, allowing the sap to exude and harden before being harvested. The essential oil is then extracted through steam distillation, preserving its vibrant green aroma. Galbanum has been used since ancient times in incense, medicine, and perfumery for its powerful and unique scent. Today, it remains a treasured ingredient in modern perfumery, valued for its ability to add a fresh, green intensity and complexity to fragrances.
