Oud/Agarwood
Oud, also known as agarwood, is a highly prized fragrance note known for its deep, rich, and complex aroma. History & Production: Oud is formed when the Aquilaria tree becomes infected by a specific type of mold, which triggers the tree to produce a dark, fragrant resin as a defense mechanism. This rare and valuable resin is then harvested from the heartwood and distilled to create oud oil. Originating in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, oud has been used for centuries in traditional ceremonies and perfumery. Due to its labor-intensive harvesting process and limited availability, oud is considered one of the most expensive and sought-after ingredients in perfumery, symbolizing luxury and sophistication.
