Rosewood

Rosewood is a warm and luxurious fragrance note with a rich, woody aroma that carries subtle floral, spicy, and slightly sweet undertones. Its scent profile is smooth and elegant, adding depth and sophistication to perfumes. Rosewood imparts a refined, exotic character, often used as a middle or base note to enhance the complexity and warmth of fragrance compositions. It pairs well with florals, spices, and citrus notes, contributing to perfumes that are rich, timeless, and inviting.

History & Production: Rosewood refers to the wood of various tropical trees, most notably those in the Dalbergia genus, such as Brazilian rosewood (Dalbergia nigra). This wood has been prized for centuries for its beautiful grain and distinctive scent. Due to overharvesting, the extraction of true rosewood oil has become limited and is often replaced by synthetic accords to recreate its luxurious aroma. The essential oil, when obtained, is typically extracted through steam distillation of the wood. In modern perfumery, rosewood notes are valued for their ability to add a warm, sophisticated touch that enhances the richness and elegance of both classic and contemporary fragrances.
