Pierre Negrin

Pierre Negrin

Pierre Négrin, a celebrated French perfumer, was born in Grasse, where his grandfathers’ fragrance businesses introduced him to a world of scents from a young age. His initial passion was photography, inspired by the works of Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Ansel Adams. However, a pivotal internship during his studies in physics and chemistry revealed a profound shift in his interests. Instead of expressing himself through light, Négrin discovered he could channel his creativity through fragrance.Négrin’s journey took him from France to Mexico and eventually to the United States, where he joined

Firmenich’s New York Fine Fragrance Center in 2008. His approach to perfumery emphasizes the importance of earthy, raw notes, reflecting his belief that the true essence of fragrance comes from the natural world. This philosophy underpins his distinctive style, characterized by a commitment to authenticity and minimalism. Notable for his work with Amouage, including fragrances like Interlude Man and Journey Woman, Négrin has earned accolades such as the International Prize for Fragrance Creation from the French Society of Perfumers in 1990. His creations are celebrated for their depth and artistry, embodying his dedication to the essence of perfume-making.
