Thierry Wasser

Thierry Wasser, a Swiss-born perfumer, has been a formidable force in the fragrance industry for over 30 years. Growing up in a family immersed in the world of perfumery, he was inspired by his chemist father who worked for Givaudan. Wasser began his career as an apprentice at Charabot before moving on to Firmenich and Givaudan. In 2008, he became the first non-Guerlain family member appointed as the in-house perfumer for Guerlain. His tenure at Guerlain has seen the creation of iconic fragrances such as La Petite Robe Noire and Shalimar Parfum Initial. Wasser's approach to perfumery is distinguished by his ability to blend natural and synthetic ingredients in unique ways, crafting scents that are both timeless and contemporary.

Wasser's creations are marked by meticulous attention to detail and a passion for innovation. He spends considerable time traveling globally to oversee the harvest of ingredients, ensuring the highest quality for his compositions. This hands-on approach, combined with his deep respect for Guerlain's heritage, results in fragrances that are rich in texture and complexity. His philosophy that a fragrance should mirror the wearer's identity underscores his dedication to personal and evocative scents. Outside of his professional endeavors, Wasser draws inspiration from his family and hobbies, including restoring vintage cars and listening to classical music, which further enrich his creative process.
