Lentisk (Mastic Tree)

Lentisk, also known as mastic tree, is a unique and aromatic fragrance note with a fresh, resinous scent profile that carries subtle woody, green, and slightly balsamic undertones. Its aroma is earthy, warm, and complex, adding a natural and sophisticated quality to perfumes. Lentisk imparts depth and a distinctive herbal character, often used as a middle or base note to create a grounding and elegant composition. It pairs beautifully with woody, citrus, and resinous notes, contributing to fragrances that are rich, refined, and full of character.

History & Production: Lentisk comes from the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus), which is native to the Mediterranean region, particularly the Greek island of Chios. The resin, known as mastic or mastiha, has been used for centuries for its aromatic and medicinal properties, as well as in culinary applications. The resin is harvested by making small cuts in the bark, allowing it to ooze out and harden into small, translucent droplets. In perfumery, mastic resin is valued for its fresh, green, and slightly spicy aroma that adds depth and complexity to compositions. Its natural, resinous scent evokes the Mediterranean landscape, making perfumes feel warm, earthy, and sophisticated.
